Kingston Little League
Gala Day 2014 and Planning for Season 2014-15
Thank you to all managers, players and parents for their support on what was a very good Gala Day and for once the weather was excellent. Congratulations to those teams that made the various finals. A thank you also goes out to all those who helped to set up the event and then dismantle the things at the end. Anyone who were not able to remain for the raffle pleas see Gala Day page for unclaimed winning raffle numbers.
Planning now takes place for next season and we will be having our AGM on Tuesday 8th July, at The queen's Head, Richmond Road, Kingston at 8:30PM.
Picks for Seniors/Intermediates will take place as soon as possible. Once this is complete the Junior sides will be decided.
We would also like to say a big thank you to all those current U15s who have now finished their football in Little League, many of whom have played from Bantams. Some of you I know have asked to help in September and you are most welcome. Just let us know your availability. Also to those managers who have "retired" our thanks for all your efforts over the years.
KLL win the National Little League U10s Tournament 2014 for the fourth time
Congratulations to our U10s who participated in the NLL U10s Tournament on Saturday, 31st May 2014 at Goals in Sutton. KLL entered two teams, both of whom met in the 1st Round after the Group stage. Kingston I defeated Kingston II 3-0 and went into the Quarter-Finals of the Challenge Cup and Kingston II went into the Quarter-Finals of the Plate competition. Unfortunately Kingston II lost their semi-final game against New Addington after beating West Sutton II in the preceding game. Kingston I having defeated Carshalton I in their Quarter-Final, then had a very convincing win over West Sutton I in the Semi-Final before meeting Morden I in a thrilling final which they won 2-1. So once again KLL had won the Challenge Cup having last held it in 2011. KLL won before in 2007 (inaugural competition) and 2008 and played in the 2009 and 2010 Finals.
Bantams Final Day Tournament
The Bantams held their Final Day Tournament on Dinton on Saturday, 17th May and there were some great games of football played in the two sections. The final of the Senior Bantams Six-a-side was exciting to the end with the Reds with White and Black Trim defeating the Reds with Stripes after a penalty shoot-out as neither side were able to break the deadlock in extra time after the game finished 2-2 in normal time. In the Junior Bantams competition it was Red Stripes (or was it Stoke City) who won their competition. See Bantams page for photographs from the Tournament.
